The start of the season has had its ups and downs with the 1st XI having strong performances mixed in with some close losses. The individual highlights that Scotty touched on have been pleasing to see and provide us with a platform to build on for the latter half of the season.
In the 2nd XI new captain Pete Taylor has led exceptionally well putting his side in strong finals contention. A good mix of junior and senior players have led to strong performances with both bat and ball. With a 2022-2023 season that only featured one century maker, to now having 4 so far this season shows the great improvement for the 2nds.
The 3rd XI has had a difficult start to the season, however with a plethora of juniors in the side, stronger performances are on the horizon. Both the 4th and 5th XI’s have had great starts to their seasons with both teams in finals contention and the 4ths even on top of the ladder currently.
The women's sides have performed admirably under the guidance of coach Andy keys, with both sides bagging multiple wins in their starts to the season. Its great to see the players buying into our women's program, especially with some of the under 17 girls participating in our senior sides.
I’d like to ask all senior players to keep making an effort to get to training Tuesdays and Thursdays, even if other commitments don’t allow for a full session, every little bit counts. Also I’d like to thank everyone for staying back after training on selection nights supporting the club and I’d especially like to thank the teams for putting on dinner for the players and supporters.
Thanks,
Shane Hesline
