President's Update

Hello to all current members, past players and sponsors, I hope this report finds you well! This update finds us well into the season with several fantastic performances. I want to make special mention of a few of those:

  • Ben Gray making his maiden century in our 2nd XI was great to see. Son of Life Member Scott and his lovely wife Nicole, Ben has grown up around the Club, and to see his hard training pay off in a century was fantastic for all of us to see!  Great stuff Benny!

  • Matt Blunden with a century in Round 2 in our 1st XI game against Elwood.  Fantastic effort Matt, keep it going!

  • Umar Khayam peeling off a ton against Melbourne Wanderers for our 2nd XI in round 5 was great to watch!

  • A new player to the Club this year, Chris Benn, smashed 148 off 67 balls against Cheltenham Park with 12 fours and 15 sixes!  Chris has fitted into the Club fantastically well! Fantastic knock Chris, great to have you at ESCC

  • 1st XI Captain, Ben Pryor and his teammate Henry Munnings have had consistent starts to the season, a really big score is just around the corner for both of these lads.

  • Special mention to Maxy Burns, who brought up his maiden half-century in the 1st XI against Kingston Heath!  Maxy has trained really hard this year, and it is starting to pay off!  Awesome Max!

  • I want to make special mention to our Women's 1st team, the “Black Stripes” who have started the season brightly, only losing 1 game thus far.  But most impressive was their last performance in Round 5 against Old Haileybury, where with 8 players in the team (1 short), restricted OHCC to 103 and then proceeded to pass them without losing a wicket!  A fantastic opening partnership between skipper Fi Cozens (50*) and Alysia Coventry (45*) got the team over the line in 11 overs.

I want to also especially call out those players that have played their first games for our club so far this season.  It’s great to have you here, and I trust you are having a great time!

This is free, and is a crucial for us to ensure the safety of our junior players. Please follow the link below and nominate ESCC as your organisation you volunteer at.

This year the club will be supporting the Elsa Corp Justice Project again after the run-club fundraiser that was run by Matt Harris last year.
